I love to wear stripes of all kinds. But combining different pieces can quickly look weird and not well put together. If you want to do some fun combinations, here are some great tips for you:
1. Chose different stripe sizes:
Like on my outfit, I combine thin to medium and bold strips. That way you can still differentiate the pieces from each other and it looks better in pictures as well as real life. Also, if possible make the last piece you wear the biggest and the first piece towards your body the thinnest stripes. This brings more dimension to your outfit.
2. Chose different colors:
In stead of going for all pieces in black and white, choose some pieces in different colors. This makes your look more interesting and makes it easier for each piece to stand out on its own. My pieces are black, white, red and blue. Try to combine colors that match each other and are easy on the eyes.
3. Go for layering:
In stead of choosing striped trousers and a striped top, I recommend layering things up and focusing on one part of your body. The easiest way to do so, is layer different tops like I did. I combined a red and white striped, oversize shirt, with a medium dark blue and white striped blazer. To finish it up and keep me warm, I threw over a bold, black and white striped scarf.
4. Keep the rest simple:
Don’t throw in more patterns, to take the safe road. I’d recommend you wear all neutral basics with the striped pieces so they get all the attention they deserve. Here I’m wearing grey fake leather leggings, black booties, a black hat, my silver shoulder bag and a bunch of silver jewelry to complete my look.
5. Feel confident:
The one thing that really makes you stand out, is not your outfit but yourself. So always make sure to feel comfortable and happy in what you wear. Only wear pieces you really like and I’m sure you’ll look stunning. Good luck!
