Hi, I’m Mathilde from Mathilde’s Closet and I’m posting here as a guest !
I started a fashion blog about a month ago on a friend’s recommendation. I hadn’t seen him for a long time and we had so much to catch up. But I don’t know why, with all the things I could have said, I kept talking about Diane Von Furstenberg, how she is inspiring me, how wonderful her designs are and how I’d like to be a legal adviser for a fashion company. And he just said « You’re talking about fashion with so much passion and respect, you know your stuff ! You should have a blog ». Although, I had already thought about becoming a blogger several times before, it never occured to me that I could really become one. Then I got home, and I guess I missed my friend and I just started. First, the name, then the design, then finding a photographer and finally organizing photoshoots. It all happened so fast. It feels like I was looking at Sea of Shoes yesterday and now I’m on Instagram looking for the right angle.
What I love the most about fashion is fashion itself. I’m not really into knowing models names, following their lives and so… I’m more about following fashion weeks, loving the fabric of a piece of clothes and understanding why and how my favorite designers get their ideas. I guess that what I love about blogging is yes, sharing my outfits and hopefully bring inspiration, but it’s mostly writing about fashion. I’d like my blog to become more and more like a fashion magazine with articles about designers, trendy clothes and fashion history. It’s so amazing to understand how fashion was here to free women when nobody was. Free them from their corsets, from their dresses which prevented them from riding a horse like a man… I’m also very committed to women’s rights and I’d like my blog to reflect that. All my articles are written to encourage women to embrace themselves and to fulfill their dreams.
For this particular article, I wanted something very French and natural. I have a partnership with a hand and home made Parisian brand that manufactures bags in wicker and leather. We call them basket bags or balloon bags. The basket bags look really French or Dutch to me so I though they looked perfect for this photoshoot. I’m wearing gingham high-waisted shirts that I bought in a little shop in France with a white blouse and vintage shoes from the early 90’s. I am really into vintage clothes. My mom’s wardrobe is my best ally for finding 80’s and 90’s pieces but my grandmother is my next target cause I want 60’s and 70’s ;) I’m also wearing fashion earrings and the ring I got for my 18th birthday and that I never leave. These pictures were taken in my home town which is a really small town but very beautiful and very resourceful for pictures !
Time for me to leave you. I really hope to see you on my blog at mathildescloset.over-blog.com!
