Industrial City Chic and the Power of High Heels

Industrial City Chic and the Power of High Heels

To be honest I was quite scared that these pictures would turn out unusable. It was lunchtime when we took them and there was an intense, strong midday sun in the sky.

If you’re a bit familiar with photography you might know that this is not the ideal light to take good pictures. But it was just the only time frame I had someone with me to take pictures. So I thought let’s give it a try. And yeah, there were a lot of pictures I had to sort out. Due to the bad lighting in lots of pictures I had hideous shadows on my face or unflattering legs. That’s not something you necessarily want to see in pictures.

But luckily some also turned out quite nice. And looking at them now after editing I have to say I kinda love the rough and extreme contrast the sun created in these pictures. With the urban, industrial looking scenery in the background it gives the whole post a nice edgy ambiance. What do you think?

However for the future I will still try to avoid the midday sun for taking pictures. It is just to harsh and makes it hard to look good. I’d rather go for a late afternoon when the sun is a bit set already. That light makes your pictures look much smoother. So if we can learn something from this post it is to avoid, (or maybe not? huh), taking pictures at noon.

But let’s talk about the outfit: Just look at the beautiful shoes I’m wearing. Aren’t they perfect? I’ve always wanted shoes with laces to wrap around my ankles and now I finally got these Josephine sandals from De Siena. They’re handmade out of silver and black leather with black leather laces. I can literally feel the great quality on my feet when wearing them. Usually strap high heels tend to cut into my flesh and feel uncomfortable after a certain time. But these are so soft and smooth and actually feel really nice on my feet. The only reason I don’t wear them all day long is because I don’t want to ruin them. They’re so precious to me – I wanna make sure to keep them a life long time.

I like to style high heels a bit unconventional. As you might know I’m not too girly but still high heels just make my heart melt. Plus I just feel more sexy when I wear them. Therefore I totally like to use shoes and accessories to either dress an outfit up or down. In this look I definitely used them to dress up. The clothes I’m wearing are actually very simple: Black jeans shorts, a burgundy cotton tank and a boxy blazer with glittering thread. But combining these three pieces with my sexy high heels and a chic little clutch bag totally change the whole appearance of this look. It’s now definitely something that people would turn their heads for. To me, that’s the power of high heels right here. They can really change your whole look and presence. This is one of the reasons I like fashion and clothing so much, you can change within seconds. And I love to play with this feature a lot.

I am still learning about lighting on pics, it should not be too bright, not too dark, the latter is often the problem here during the winter months. Still learning, I guess. I thought these pics came out pretty cool, a bit different:-) Isn`t that true, you just have to get it done at times, when someone is volunteering to be your photographer:-)

Thank you Sonja. Yeah light can have such a big impact on the pictures. And totally, sometimes it’s just better to get it done instead of waiting for the ‘perfect moment’ :-D xx Carina
